Ioana Berbec comes from Romania and has been living in Cambridge for 2 years. She is a Photographer of Travel and Nature and loves photography because she believes it makes moments last forever.
1. When you started your Instagram and what was the first photo you published?
I opened an Instagram account out of curiosity in 2016, but I think I started to publish regular photos about one year ago. The first photo I published on Instagram was taken in one of my trekking trips in Romania. The view at 2393 m was amazing!
2. What are the main topics of your photos?
I usually like to focus on travel, nature and architecture, but I always try to come up with an original framing, angle or edit. My favourite locations for taking photos are ruins, bridges and mountains. 🙂
3. What are your favourite spots in Cambridge and Cambridgeshire?
I absolutely love Cambridge. I moved here 2 years ago and I instantly fell in love with this city. St John’s College is definitely my favourite college in Cambridge, the highlight being the entrance gate to the New Court. Another really nice college is Jesus College, which is somehow off the beaten tourist track, but still really close to the city centre. St. Neots and Ely are two other very interesting locations in Cambridgeshire.
4. Who inspires you or what are your favourite profiles on Instagram?
I follow many different types of profiles focused on travel, architecture, fashion or lifestyle. Some of my favourite profiles belong to @marinacomes, @irinahp, @reneeroaming and @rayawashere.
5. What are you proud of at your mobile photography adventure?
What I like the most about my mobile photography adventure is that I learned a lot and improved my skills significantly in a short period of time! And I believe IG had a big part to play in that. During the past year, I won 2 small photography competitions and one of my photos was published in a local magazine. So I am very proud of that! 🙂
6. What is your dream related to photography?
There are so many places around the world I wish to photograph, I have a huge list! To start with, I would like to travel more outside Europe and discover South America and Africa.
7. Name your 5 favourite apps used in taking and /or editing photos
I use Snapseed, Quickshot, Lightroom and Photofox for editing photos and Canva for creating IG stories.
8. The most important tip or a message from you to other mobile photographers?
Be authentic, be passionate, use social media to learn, to develop yourself and don’t forget the offline life is more important! 🙂
